Roundtable response to Kingston Municipal Housing Strategy
In July 2007, Kingston City Council committed to providing $5 million as a Matching Municipal Contribution in the construction of affordable housing units in Kingston. This document outlines the details and chronology of that commitment.
In 2011, as part of consultation on the City's current Municipal Housing Strategy, the Roundtable, along with many community partners advocated for that $5 million to be committed to addressing the chronic shortage of affordable housing units in Kingston through both capital and operational spending in the form of short-term rent subsidies.
Council voted against this proposal.
